演奏予定時間を終えたので、進行係が支配人にその旨を告げて、「幕引きをしますか。」とお伺いを立てたら、「The Modern Jazz Quartetの歴史的な演奏なんだから、邪魔をすべきでない。」と答えたという逸話が残る、空前絶後の偉大な集団である「MJQ」の最後の演奏、、、の筈が、その後も結構、再会盤が何枚か出てますね(^^;。兎に角、モダンジャズの世界で、数十年間、第一線のグループとして君臨し続けたのは凄く、その偉大なグループの主要なレパートリーは、全てこれに入っています。ちょっと行儀が良く、しかしジャズの真髄である自由さやブルース臭をも兼ね備えた稀有のグループでした。
