黄金のルーレット時代の幕開けを飾る名盤 Basie ( a.k.a. "Atomic Basie" ) の吹き込みから２週間ほどでヨーロッパツアーに出たベイシー楽団の貴重なライブ音源。熱狂的なパリのファンを前にWhirly-Bird、The Kid From Red Bank、Duet など吹き込んだばかりの新作（この時点では発売前。）を畳み掛けるように浴びせたかと思えば、おなじみの Blee Blop Blues などのレパートリーを織り交ぜ、バンドのノリも極上。この直後にミュージシャン生活から身を引き音楽事務所に勤める（'60年代に復帰）ことになる Eddie 'Lockjaw' Davis のプレイや、日ごろ日のあたらない名バリトンサックス、Charlie Fawlkes のフィーチャー曲 Spring Is Here、生粋のエンターテイナー、Sonny Payne (dr) のソロが炸裂する Ol' Man River など聴きどころは満載。
